DEPARTMENT OF DRAVYAGUNA

Dravyaguna is taught in 2nd professional course for 1½ years as per NCISM guidelines. Students are made able to understand basic concepts of Dravya, Guna, Rasa, Virya, Vipaka, Prabhava and Karma (pharmacological actions) along with pharmacology and pharmacognosy. Comprehensive study regarding collection, cultivation, purification, quality, adulteration and substitution of drugs is also included in under graduation syllabus. Students are made skilful in identification of drugs, also in understanding Rasa etc. of drugs with their therapeutic administration. Practical sessions are regularly conducted incorporating museum and herbal garden visit, local and national educational tour, pharmacognosy, etc.
